ABOUT "THE RIDGE"

Ironwood Ridge High School is a public high school, located just North of Tucson in sunny Oro Valley, Arizona. The school mascot is the Nighthawk, and the school colors are navy blue and silver. Ironwood Ridge opened in 2001 and has an enrollment of under 2000 students. In 2007, Newsweek Magazine rated Ironwood Ridge in the top 5% of public schools in the U.S.

NIGHTHAWK FOOTBALL & PHILOSOPHY

Ironwood Ridge competes in the 5A Division II athletic conference and is the smallest 5A school competing in the state. Ironwood Ridge's football team has made stellar appearances in the football playoffs five years in a row. The IRHS Football team, originally led by Gary Minor, enjoyed tremendous success over these previous yars and in 2008 the team reached the State Semi-finals before falling to the eventual state champion, Centennial.

Coach Matt Johnson was chosen to take the helm of this team as Head Coach in the Spring of 2009, with the retirement of Coach Minor, post season of 2008. There is tremendous enthusiasm and excitement in the air as a new page in Nighthawk history is about to be written.

Nighthawk Football is a family and not just an organization; we are truly excited for this upcoming season and trust that you are too! The Fans, Players, Cheer Squads, and Vanguard all actively participate in the overall success of our teams and programs...Come Experience the Excitement! GO NIGHTHAWKS!!!
